Liebster Award Nomination For All Of You!

liebster-award-first-blog-award-2014Last week was such an amazing week. I found out I’m pregnant and I got nominated by spiritbabycomehome for another Liebster Award!

This is my second nomination. I’m not sure if you’re supposed to accept more than one, but I’m breaking the rules because I am so touched and honored by this acknowledgment and I wanted to thank spiritbabycomehome properly. I am in awe of this special lady who has had to endure so much, especially in the past year with several losses, and failed fertility treatments, and she is now embarking on an amazing adventure into the world of donor eggs. This was not an easy decision for her and she has shown such incredible strength and perseverance. She is a true inspiration. Thank you amazing lady!

How the Liebster Award works:

The Liebster Award brings a community of bloggers together and allows us to acknowledge each other and learn more about each other.

The Rules:

  • Link back to the blogger who gave you the award. Absolutely! (See above).
  • Answer the questions designated by the blogger who nominated you. Check (see below).
  • List 11 random facts about yourself. This is new, I didn’t do this last time. Eek! (see below).
  • Nominate 3-5 other bloggers with less than 200 followers.

Okay, I’m going to deviate from the norm here and nominate ANYONE who wants to participate. That’s right, I’m breaking the rules! I think you’re all awesome and you all deserve a Liebster Award.

  • Make up a set of questions for the nominated bloggers to answer. Done (See below).

Spiritbabycomehome’s Questions:

1.  Favourite childhood memory?

My 13th birthday hands down. My dad loved my long hair and had  this crazy dad rule that I couldn’t cut my hair except for trims. I know, strange, but he always believed young girls should have long hair. It must have made an impression on me because I’ve only cut my hair short  3 times in my entire life and have hated it every time! Anyway, that year on my 13th birthday, he drove me to the best salon in our small town and said, do whatever you want. I cut several inches off and got a perm. I regretted the perm but I felt so free that day 🙂 The second thing that happened that day, happened after my appointment. My dad left me at the salon, and my mom was the one who picked me up. She drove me to the pet store and said pick a kitty. I almost died of sheer joy. I had been asking for a kitten for years, and she always said no because she was afraid of cats. Well that day, we went home with Trooper, my very first kitty. It was the best day ever!

2.  Who was your dearest friend when you were growing up and why were you so fond of her/him?

I actually have several. I am beyond blessed to still be very good friends with several women who I have known since I was girl. These women have shaped and influenced so many aspects of my life and I honestly don’t know what I would do without them. It doesn’t matter how many years go by or the fact that they are all in Canada and I’m in the US now, I know I can always count on them and I hope they know they can always count on me. They have cried with me during this journey and provided me with so much support.

3.  If you could be anywhere right now, where would you be and who with?

Oh there are so many fantasies about this.  I want to be so many places! But if I had to pick just one, I would say, on a beach in the Caribbean with my husband 🙂

4.  Favourite food or foods?

This is hard! I love food and there are so many things I love. I guess Seafood and dark chocolate would be my top two. I also love cheese and anything spicy.

5.  Have you ever been afraid to do something and later recognized you missed out on a great opportunity? Tell us about it.

Hmm… I don’t know. I don’t think I’ve ever been too afraid to do anything that I later regretted, but I do have regrets. The biggest on is that I wish I had taken time off between college and work to travel the world more. I feel like there are so many places I want to see and as I get older, I’m not sure I’ll get to see them all. It wasn’t fear that held me back though, it was student loans and the need to start working right away. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get out and see more of the world when we retire 🙂

6.  If you had to dress up for Hallowe’en this year, who or what would you be?  Why?

I have no idea! I never figure out my halloween costume until a few weeks before! I wish I had the courage to pull off the crazy outfit Mila Jojovich(sp?) wore in The Fifth Element that was basically a bra and underwear with a bunch of horizontal white bands and that crazy red wig. I have always thought that would make and amazing costume, but I will never have the guts to wear something that revealing even if I was in the best shape ever!

Who am I kidding?! I’m hoping I’ll still be pregnant then and I can sport a cute preggo costume 🙂

7.  What is the most difficult challenge you have ever faced?  What happened?

This. Recurrent Pregnancy Loss hands down. Having to face losing my son followed by years of loss has been the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

8.  Do you believe in miracles?  Wish you did?

Absolutely.

9.  If you were another kind of animal, what would you be?

Great question. Having two cats, I have thought about this a lot. I would love to be a cat. They eat. Sleep. Play. Sleep. Eat. Sleep. How amazing would that be? Can you tell I like to sleep?

10.  Best meal you remember having and where you had it?

I have to repeat my answer from my last nomination because the answer hasn’t changed…

Since I’ve been really craving a vacation with my hubby, I have to say a little restaurant called L’Escargot in St. Maarten. We had lunch at this amazing little french restaurant when we were on our long over due ( 3 years late) honeymoon. We took a 12 day Caribbean cruise and St. Maarten was one of our ports. We had escargot 3 ways and these amazing slushy drinks that had us stumbling back to the ship. It was such a perfect afternoon and those escargot were amazing. I would love to transport us back there this very minute!

11.  Favourite book?

Harry Potter Series – I cry every time I read these books! These books are incredibly inspiring to me. If you haven’t read them, you absolutely must! I’m sure you all know the story at least, but if not, they’re about an orphaned boy, who goes through some pretty horrible experiences and against unimaginable obstacles and heartache, overcomes it, defeats the evil in his life, and achieves his dreams of peace and family in the end. The movies are great, but the books are amazing!

11 Random Facts About Me:

1. I was 3 months premature and only weighed 2lbs 8oz when I was born.

2. I’m Canadian, but 6 years ago, I moved to the US to be with my husband. I used to spell words like color with a “u”  (colour), like my nominee, but have somehow been converted in the past 6 years and have dropped the u. What happened?!

3. I love orchids, but they’re toxic to cats so I never have them in my house.

4.  I love spicy food. The spicier the better.

5. I was in a car accident with my best friend when I was 16. She swerved to miss a couple deer on the road and we rolled on the highway and landed in the ditch on the roof. We were stupid girls who were not wearing our seat belts and we walked away from that with only minor injuries. The car was total write off. That was the first day I realized I was blessed. I have always worn my seat belt since then!

6. I love shoes.

7. I almost fell out of the zipper ride at a small traveling fair when I was 20. I have been deathly afraid of all rides since then.

8. I used to be anti cell phone. I refused to get one until 2007, and only got one because my husband was persistent about it to the point of annoying. And now, I can’t live without my iPhone. I think it’s the fact that it’s more a tiny, portable computer than a phone that sold me 🙂

9. I could wear yoga pants every day of the week, and since I work from home, I think I have.

10. I have small feet for my height. I’m 5’8″ and only have a 7 1/2 shoe size. This probably explains why I’m so clumsy.

11. My wedding colors were orange and gray.

Okay! To all you wonderful ladies who accept my nomination and want to participate (see above for explanation), here are your questions:

  1. What is your guilty pleasure?
  2. What is your dream vacation?
  3. What is your favorite movie?
  4. What is your favorite thing or memory about your spouse or partner?
  5. What do you do to relieve stress?
  6. Who or what inspires you?
  7. What is your biggest fear?
  8. What is your biggest dream?
  9. What is your best piece of advice?
  10. What are you most proud of?

  1. Love the rule breaking!!! And so glad you accepted.

There are some awesome stories and beautiful memories woven through your response – delightful. I really hope you’re still pregnant and can dress up accordingly this Hallowe’en, too. Brimming with hope and prayers for you, I am!

I have a hard time with the HP books. First time I read one (the first one in the series, I’m like that ;-)) was to my Mom in the hospital after her emergency diagnosis and surgery for advanced-stage cancer. I miss her very much and to this day find reading HP too tearful. But my hubster got me all the movies to watch while pregnant and on mat leave. Because I would have so much free time and energy on my hands! We got through them and I can’t wait to share them with our little one. Maybe I can make a new association by reading them to our child(ren)? Thanks for that inspiration!

    1. Thanks hon <3I had so much fun answering your questions 🙂 And may we both be dressing up in cute pregnant costumes this Halloween!

Oh I'm so sorry hon. I can only imagine how hard it must be to even look at the books now! But what a beautiful idea.
      **Hugs**

  2. I love these! I wonder if pregnancy will change your taste for spicy food. I love spicy food but can’t eat it now. I hope it doesn’t. I’ve loved reading about your pregnancy! Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers as this pregnancy progresses.

    1. Thanks so much hon! yeah, we’ll have to see. I’m already feeling quite a bit of nausea and don’t want anything spicy right now. With previous pregnancies, I’ve been fine with it. It’s an encouraging sign that every pregnancy is different 🙂

I’m continuing to keep you in my thoughts and prayers too!
