20 Weeks! And Letting the World Know, AKA Instagram and Facebook

Before I begin, I wanted to send out a prayer to my RPL/IF sisters who are having a hard week. For those of you who have just learned of a loss, failed cycle or BFN, or are waiting on test results and trying to find answers, my heart goes out to you and I am praying for your hurt to stop and for blessings and joy to come to you soon. A Calm Persistence, Lady Love and Baby Dust, and Spirit Baby Come Home are a few amazing ladies who are especially on my mind today, but my heart reaches out to all of you. Please God, please bring all these amazing ladies their miracles soon. To anyone who just can’t look at pregnancy updates right now, please know I completely understand. I may be expecting now and have gotten good news this week, but I remember the other side of this all too well and don’t ever want to cause any of you pain. So please feel free to sign off here.

20 Weeks!

We’re 20 weeks today, and have made it to the half way point! I know I say this every week, but I really can’t believe we’ve made it this far! And even though 20 weeks is technically the halfway point, I will likely be scheduled for a c-section at 38 weeks due to my history and the type of c-section I had before, so I’m actually MORE than halfway there!

After learning the results of the anatomy scan on Wednesday, I have been feeling so incredibly blessed and happy. I can’t even express it properly. There is still the re-occurrence of HELLP to worry about, but having my doctor tell us everything is progressing perfectly is such a huge relief. I feel more confident then I have to date that it will be okay this time and, for the first time, I feel I’m really ready to enjoy this pregnancy and let the world know.

Letting the world know, AKA Instagram and Facebook

A friend of ours took some pics of us on Tuesday for our announcement (thank you C!)Β  and they turned out even better then I envisioned. On Wednesday, I emailed C and told her our good news about the anatomy scan and she replied back with a smiley face and “Are you posting it (the announcement) tonight then?” Originally, I thought I would wait until today to post it when we had reached the 20 week mark, but after seeing that email from my doctor, I suddenly really wanted to celebrate and share our news with the world right away. I had one little moment right before I posted it to Instagram and sharing it to Facebook where I felt scared to do it, but I pushed through my fear, and clicked the submit button πŸ™‚

Our Announcement:

photoAlong with posting our announcement, I was able to talk to my SIL about our baby shower without totally freaking out the other day, and our discussion led to me opening up my private baby boards on Pinterest so she could see what colors and ideas I had for the nursery and the shower.Β  This actually made me a bit more nervous then the announcement did because these private boards represent all my hopes and dreams for baby that I have been saving for a long time now. It was really weird to open them up and put them out there for everyone to see.

Lastly, my SIL asked me to start setting up my registries, and instead of telling her my usual, “it’s to soon”, I told her I would, and you know what? I’m actually looking forward to doing it! I discovered that Amazon does baby registries, so I plan on having 3, one on Amazon, one from Target and one from Babies R Us. I went from being scared to set up 1 registry to having 3!

Today is a good great day πŸ™‚

20 Week Progress Report

How far along?Β  20 Weeks

Total weight gain? 7-9 lbs (Constipation an issue right now so my weight has been fluctuating the past week or so depending on how bloated I am)

Maternity clothes? Yep, pretty much all maternity clothes now. My regular clothes just don’t feel comfortable anymore.

Stretch marks? Nothing so far.

Sleep: Sleep is still not great. Same issues with sleeping on my side and waking up a lot. I really hope this get’s better soon!

Best moment this week: Having our anatomy scan and finding out all is perfect with our little guy.

Miss anything? Sleeping on my back.

Movement: Yes! Lots of movement now. My hubby has yet to feel it yet though. Every time he put’s his hand on my belly, little man stops moving. It’s like he’s playing hide and seek with his daddy :), but I feel bad because I know A really wants to feel him. Hopefully he’ll feel him soon!

Food cravings/Aversions: Nothing new.

Anything making you feel queasy or sick: Not anymore πŸ™‚ The only major digestive issue now is constipation. I discussed it with my doctor and for now, I’m trying a few natural remedies like prunes and warm lemon water in the morning which seem to be helping. Hopefully it will continue to improve so I don’t need any medication.

Showing? Yes! There is definitely quite the bump there now.

Gender: A boy!

Labor signs:Β No! and none are welcome here for another 18 weeks!

Symptoms: All about the same.

Belly button in or out? In, but starting to flatten out.

Wedding ring on or off? On.

Happy or moody most of the time: I’m so happy!

Looking forward to: Our next OB appointment on September 10th.

What’s Going on with Baby:

  • At 20 Weeks baby is about 6 1/2 inches long and weighs about 10 1/2 ounces and is the size of a banana. According to Baby Center:

He’s 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel. For the first 20 weeks, when a baby’s legs are curled up against his torso and hard to measure, he’s measured from the “crown to rump”. After 20 weeks, he’s measured from head to toe. This is so exciting because we’ll now have a good idea of exactly how long he is πŸ™‚

  • He’s got working taste buds now and is swallowing several ounces of amniotic fluid each day which is more than he as up to this point.

That’s it for today. Our 18 year old nephew is visiting and we have a beach day planned with several of our friends today. I’m excited for a lazy day in the sun. I was worried I would get overheated too quickly though, so I ordered a beach cabana/tent which will hopefully keep me comfortable when I need a break from the sun πŸ™‚

  2. Your announcement is so precious! I’m so happy for you! I also registered at Target this week! I still can’t believe we’re both having boys due the same day, though you’ll likely have your little man before me. I can’t wait!!

  3. Try Miralax for help with the constipation. I had similar issues when pregnant with my rainbow daughter and after weeks of my OB telling me to get some, I finally listened and wish I would have sooner. It really was so helpful.

    1. Thanks for the suggestion! Yes, my doctor did mention it and another blogger on here who is pregnant is taking it. I think I’ll give it a few more days and if it doesn’t improve, then I’ll fill the prescription πŸ™‚

  4. Your so adorable. Those pictures are precious and I’m so ecstatic that the news came back great! Keep that positive juju going! Thank you for the prayers, warm thoughts and shout out. Xo

  7. Such great news! It is wonderful to “hear” you feeling more confident and so happy. Your announcement is too cute! I am very glad things are going so well. It’s funny little man is playing hide and seek with his daddy. I hope and will keep praying that with Dr. S ‘ close attention in coming weeks HELLP will not be an issue.

Thank you very much for the prayers.

  8. I am so incredibly happy for you! I love the announcement photo – you guys look awesome! And, more importantly, I love that you are getting more and more okay with things – a baby shower and three registries are both really big steps! I am so happy that you are able to take these steps and to celebrate the great news from last week!

    1. Thanks hon. It’s crazy, I flip-flop a lot between feeling super excited and then the worry creeps back in, but for the most part, I’m getting better at pushing those feelings down and focusing on the happy thoughts πŸ™‚

  9. AHHHHHHHHHH! You and your husband are freaking ADORABLE. And I love your bump! πŸ™‚ So glad things are progressing well with you…I ALWAYS look forward to your updates. <3

  10. Love the announcement – so cute! I’m glad you are getting excited about the registry and a shower and can’t wait to hear about some of the cute things you need (you’ll have to share some of your ideas and wants if/when you feel up to it). Happy 1/2 way (or more than that). Funny – I’ve been told we’ll induce at 37 weeks and so I think of myself as already being halfway, too πŸ™‚

    1. πŸ™‚ That would be great! I just know I will be very anxious to meet our little man the closer we get to his arrival πŸ™‚
